Before the picnic tables, fire rings, and peaceful RV mornings with mountain views — there was just 30 acres of untamed land nestled between the Smoky and English Mountains.
Creating Great Smoky Mountain Vista Campground has been a true labor of love, and in this month’s post, we’re pulling back the curtain to show you how it all started — and where it’s headed.
It Started with a Dream (and a Love for Camping)
Like many of you, we’ve spent years exploring campgrounds, building memories with our family, and enjoying life outdoors. After countless weekends on the road and summers under the stars, we began dreaming of building our own campground — a place that felt peaceful, scenic, and welcoming for all types of campers.
When we found this property in Newport, TN, we knew it had something special:
- Views of the Smoky and English Mountains
- A quiet location with nearby access to adventure
- Room to grow — with 30 acres to develop thoughtfully over time
Turning Raw Land into a Home for Campers
Let’s be real — starting from scratch isn’t for the faint of heart! Here’s a peek at some of the steps (and sweat) that we went through in getting ready for our Spring 2025 opening:
- Land clearing and grading to prepare each site
- Installing full hookups (electric, water, sewer)
- Designing wide, easy-to-navigate roads for RVs
- Creating fire rings and picnic areas for each site
- Planning for future phases that will include even more amenities
We’ve worked with local contractors, inspected every inch of the property ourselves, and stayed hands-on every step of the way. And we’re just getting started.

Our goal isn’t just to provide a great place to stay — it’s to create a place that feels like yours, too. We believe in community, in transparency, and in the magic of watching something grow from the ground up.

Opening Day!
We opened our first 18 RV sites on March 14, 2025, and are accepting reservations. The mountain views are waiting, and we can’t wait to welcome you.
